PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form uniform glass coating having excellent coating performance and furthermore to obtain excellent magnetic properties. SOLUTION: This glass coating is composed of MgO having 15 to 100m<2> /g BET specific surface area and 45 to 300sec CAA value, and a steel sheet after decarburizing annealing is coated with one or >= two kinds among oxides, hydroxides and carbonate as Fe compounds by 0.15 to 5.0% expressed in terms of Fe, which is subjected to finish annealing to obtain the excellent glass coating and magnetic properties. At this time, by simultaneously incorporating one or >= two kinds among fluorine compounds and chlorine compounds and/or 0.010 to 0.15% Cl thereto, the magnetic properties of the glass coating furthermore improve, where CAA value is the measured value at 30 deg.C liq. temp. and BET is the surface area obtd. by a gaseous layer absorption process (the amt. of N to be absorbed). |
