1307106 Insulated conductor WESTING- HOUSE ELECTRIC CORP 9 Dec 1970 [29 Dec 1969] 58419/70 Heading H1A An electrical conductor 1 is insulated by a tube 3 which has its ends sealed to the surface of the conductor in a liquid-tight manner by bands 2 of a resinous, heat and chemical resistant material, e.g. polyvinyl chloride adhesive tape. The tape may be applied underneath, Fig. 4B or over Fig. 7 the tubing 3 which is of a thermoplastic resinous material, e.g. polyvinyl chloride. In one method of manufacture bands 2, Fig. 4B, are applied to the conductor 1, tube 3 is pulled over the conductor and heat shrunk on to it, and the ends of the tube are trimmed. In an alternative method the bands 2, Fig. 7, are applied after the tube 3 has been heatshrunk onto the conductor. An overlay of non- tacky material may also be provided on the bands. |
