PURPOSE: To repeatedly and stably obtain a full-color image of high image quality by providing a lubricating heat-resistant layer and a colorant layer on a base material and forming the resin constituting the colorant layer from a mixture of a polyacrylonitrile/styrene resin and other specific resin. CONSTITUTION: The dyeing layer 23 of a dyeing layer transfer material 2 is thermally transferred to the function layer 42 of an intermediate medium 4 and the dye in the colorant layer 12 of a dye transfer material 1 is thermally transferred thereto corresponding to an image signal and the dyeing layer 23 on which the dye is recorded is thermally transferred to an image receiving material 5. In the thermal transfer recording material subjected as the dye transfer material 1 of thermal transfer recording, the colorant layer 12 is constituted by using a resin obtained by mixing a polyacrylonitril/styrene resin A and at least one resin B among a vinyl chloride/vinyl acetate copolymer resin, a vinyl chloride/vinyl acetate/vinyl alcohol copolymer resin or the like so that the mixing ratio of them becomes 2:8-8:2.
