Coverings of oil are recovered from the surface of a stretch of water by means of a floating vessel, the buoyancy of which is adjusted so that its upper surface is level with the surface of the water. The vessel has a cover which allows a slight opening between its bottom rim and the upper surface of the vessel. A tube passes through the cover and is connected to a means of suction which is applies to the opening between the cover and the vessel surface. Used for collecting oil from the surface of shallow water close in shore where the large scale collecting ships cannot operate.
|
