PURPOSE:To provide a printer capable of performing a printing action, particularly that after an approaching action, immediately after the approaching action, by a method wherein a driving signal for approaching and escaping actions is interrupted during an action of a printing head. CONSTITUTION:An action driving signal A is impressed on a terminal 19 for a magnet which controls the approaching and escaping actions of the printing head. As a result, a transistor Q is turned ON, and a voltage VCC is impressed on an exciting coil 13a to bring the head into the approaching action. During the impression, the signal A is interrupted to reduce an exciting current B for the magnet. When the impression of the signal A is restarted and the head comes into contact with an approach contact switch SW to bring the switch SW into an OFF condition, the exciting coils 13a, 13b are connected in series with each other, so that the current flowing through the coils is reduced. Accordingly, the head is smoothly set into an approaching condition D without bounding. |
