PURPOSE:To obtain the titled compound in high yield, by reacting an alkanediol with an alkyl vinyl ether at a specific reaction molar ratio in the presence of a bivalent Pd complex to carry out the monovinyl ether interchange reaction in high selectivity under mild conditions. CONSTITUTION:An alkanediol of formulaI(A is straight chain, branched chain or cyclic alkylene) is reacted with anlkyl vinyl ether of formula II (R is straight, branched chain or cyclic alkylene which may have a substituent group) in the presence of a bivalent Pd complex, e.g. palladium acetate complex, at a reaction molar ratio between the alkanediol and the alkyl vinyl ether >=(1/1), preferably (2/1)-(20/1), to give a hydroxyalkyl vinyl ether of formula III, e.g. 4- hydroxybutyl vinyl ether. USE:A comonomer capable of giving reactive hydroxyl group-containing side chains to addition polymers. |
