Multiple mode microwave tunnel oven - for continuous elastomeric profiles, avoids overheating differing profile shapes or sizes

A microwave heated tunnel (1) for treating continuous profiles is made resonant in the x,y and z axes and includes sets of incursive electrodes of which some (12) operate in the TE mode and others (1) in the TM mode so that the profile being treated passes through zones of alternating wave modes. Used esp. for continuously curing elastomeric profiles of varying shapes or sizes, to raise different parts of the section profile rapidly to a common elevated temperature and to maintain that temperature without risk of overheating throughout the period necessary for each part of the section to pass through the tunnel.
