Parent patent described a machine to be trailed behind a vehicle with a power drive offtake and which featured a combination of a spiked belt and an archimedean screw for collecting and pushing agricultural material, specifically vine cuttings, into a tubular sleeve or bag. This addn. described addn. of a reciprocating ram coaxial with and within the archimedean screw which can be used to advance and compress material beyond the end of the screw, pref. while the screw is temporarily stopped. An ancillary yoke is then manoeuvred to cut and tie or clamp the portion of tubular sleeving which the ram has cleared adjacent to the screw by packing the material. Pref. the cutter is a guillotine instead of a circular saw as previously described. The screw may be restarted to begin to pack materials into a freshly clamped end on the stock sleeve before the sleeve is released and fully advanced to receive the next charge. Material is prevented from projecting or dropping from or between the ends of successive individual wrapped bundles of cuttings.
|
