PURPOSE:To obtain a magnetic recording medium at a low cost with a simple device without using inert gas by irradiating an electron ray in air to a magnetic layer contg. pulverous ferromagnetic powder, electron ray curable resin and lubricative silicone oil and curing the magnetic layer. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic coating formed by incorporating 20-100pts.wt. electron ray curable resin such as the resultant product of reaction of a terminal isocyanate urethane prepolymer and (meth)acrylate having an OH group or the like and 1-10pts.wt. lubricative silicone oil (''SF-8418'' produced by Toray Silicon Co., etc.) in 100pts.wt. pulverous ferromagnetic powder of a metal (alloy) or the like such as gamma-Fe2O3, Fe, Co, Ni, etc. and adding an additive such as a dispersant, antistatic agent or the like according to need is manufactured. The coating is coated on a base and is dried and thereafter an electron ray is irradiated thereto in air to cure the coating, thereby forming a magnetic layer. A wear-resistant magnetic tape and disc having excellent durability and no surface tack are thus obtd. |
