THERMAL TRANSFER SHEET FOR RECORDING GRADATIONS

PURPOSE:To obtain an inexpensive sheet comprising a single layer provided by coating and capable of expressing gradations, by providing a heat-softening ink layer comprising a heat-fusible coloring matter and a linear saturated polyester resin as main constituents on a base. CONSTITUTION:The heat-softening ink layer comprising a heat-fusible coloring matter and a linear saturated polyester resin as main constituents is provided on the base. The resin is excellent for use as a binder for a thermal transfer sheet for recording gradations even on a base such as condenser paper and a polyester film, which are sheets ordinarily used as a base for a thermal transfer paper and have excellent thermal conductivity and heat resistance. The ratio of the amount of the coloring matter to the total amount of the ink is desirably 42-72wt%. The gradation property can be varied by selecting the metling point of the coloring matter, and the melting point is preferably 60-120 deg.C.
