PURPOSE:To miniaturize a display device and to lighten a weight by making an electrochromic display element ECD and a solar battery into a module on a same substrate. CONSTITUTION:The first solar battery S1 for color development and the second solar battery S2 for the color erase of an ECD (E) are provided individually as modules on the same substrate 1. In this case, the transparent electrode 14 of the ECD (E) is used as the transparent electrode of the second solar battery S2 and is connected to the rear electrode 15 of the first solar battery S1. Meanwhile, the terminal 16 of the counter electrode 5 of the ECD (E) is connected to either of the terminal 18 of the transparent electrode 9 of the first solar battery S1 or the rear electrode 11 of the second solar battery S2 through a switch means T'. That is, the ECD (E) develops color when terminals 16 and 18 are connected, and the ECD (E) erases color when terminals 16 and 17 are connected. Thus, the number of terminals is reduced and wirings and the switch means T' are simplified.
