PURPOSE:To eliminate the trouble in operator's operation by displaying the kind of photographic paper on a cassette which contains the photographic paper in such a form that the kind can be converted into an electric signal. CONSTITUTION:The paper cassette 1 which contains the photographic paper 2 is provided with plural projections 3 which are so set at specific positions that whether or not they are present depend upon respective kinds such as the surface quality, maker, size, etc., of the photographic paper 2. When the projections 3 are set, numbers set for respective kinds of the photographic paper are displayed, for example, in the order of their binary numbers. When a limit switch 4 which serves as a sensor for the projections 3 has three detection parts, numbers 000, 001, 010, 011, 100, 101, 110, and 111 are assigned to the different kinds of the photographic paper. The number of units indicates whether or not a projection 31 abutting on a limit switch 41 is present, the number of tens indicates whether or not a projection 32 abutting on a limit switch 42 is present, and the number of hundreds indicates whether or not a projection 32 abutting on a limit switch 43 is present or not; and the absence of a projection 3 corresponds to 0 and the presence of a projection 3 corresponds to 1.
