PURPOSE: To make a compsn. advantageous in applications where substantially colorless, for example, clear, transparent or white radiation cure coating is desired by incorporating a photobleachable ion dye material complex as a photoinitiator into the compsn. CONSTITUTION: This compsn. consists of a free radical addition polymerizable or crosslinkable material and a photobleachable ion dye paired ion compd. The compd. forms free radical which absorb visible rays and initiate the polymn. or crosslinking of the material. The photobleachable ion dye material complex may be bleached at the time of irradiation of the compsn. with visible rays during curing thereof or may be bleached at the time of preliminary irradiation with bleaching radiations, such as UV rays. The representative examples of the applications are lamination of glass, coating of optical fibers or coating of the compsn. contg. white pigments, such as titanium dioxide, etc.
