PURPOSE: To improve the edge emphasizing function of a filter by selecting a minimum signal sample value out of respective products provided by multiplying input signals based on series of selected nonuniform mask signals, and multiplying again a generated intermediate signal with the selected mask signals and a maximum signal sample value among the respective products. CONSTITUTION: A 1st memory 102 is addressed by a 1st generator circuit 103, and a block B of an input signal sample value is outputted to a 1st multiplier circuit 104. The multiplier 104 multiplies the respective signal sample values in the block from the memory 102 with a correspondent signal sample value under masking, the output of the multiplier 104 is impressed to a minimum value selector circuit 105, and the selected minimum value is stored at a positionβof a memory 106. A 2nd generator circuit 107 generates a sample block B' and it is multiplied by the mask signal of a 2nd multiplier 108. A maximum value selector circuit 109 selects a maximum generated value at the respective positions of the block B' and writes it at a correspondent positionβ' of a 3rd memory 110. Thus, the edge emphasizing function can be improved. |
