The tube comprises a funnel-shaped portion and a front face having a rearwardly extending portion connecting it with the funnel shaped portion. The inside surface of the front face has a fluorescent coating. The shadowmask is spaced from the coating and has a magnetic sheild comprising a first part covering the funnel and a second part connected to the first and extending forwards to the front face. The magnetic shield may comprise a thin layer of a magnetic metal and may exten beyond the front face by at least 10mm. A further shield may be connected to the second part in the vicinity of the front face.
