MANUFACTURE OF WEATHERSTRIP HAVING SECTION OF COMPLICATED SHAPE

PURPOSE:To save the cost of materials for a weatherstrip and simply manufacture it even if it has a section of complicated shape and further if the section varies lengthwise. CONSTITUTION:A mouthpiece 8 is divided into an upper piece 8a and an intermediate pieces 8c and 8c and a lower piece 8b in such a manner that they are capable of shifting horizontally. Previously formed by extrusion, a hollow lip member 5, a cross direction member 6 and a lateral direction member 7 are extruded via the mouthpiece 8 while feeding a reactive urethane based hot melt adhesive 9 to join these members. The upper piece 8a, intermediate pieces 8c and 8c and the lower piece 8b are heated while shifting them and permitting the mouthpiece 8 to take any desired sectional forms and a one-piece weatherstrip whose section a varies lengthwise is extruded, joined by the reactive urethane based hot malt adhesive.
