PURPOSE: To provide a recording medium sheet having one picture recording face and a method which prints data only on the picture recording face of this recording medium sheet. CONSTITUTION: A sheet 10 as a picture recording medium has a picture recording face 12 on one face and has an invisible magnetic coating 14 on the back face. The magnetic coating 14 includes encoded data, which is used to determine the nonprint face of the sheet 10, to prevent the wrong face of the sheet 10 from being printed. Encoded data can be read by a machine and includes information related to the picture recording face print characteristic of the sheet 10.
