PURPOSE:To improve the stability of a colored state and the repetitive durability of the colored-uncolored state by providing the surface of a transparent substrate with a recording layer and a reflection film layer, in which the recording layer is formed by dispersing a diaryl ethene deriv. into a nonpolar high-polymer binder. CONSTITUTION:The photochromic material of the optical memory element 4 having the recording layer 2 constituted by dispersing the photochromic material into the high-polymer binder is the diaryl ethene deriv. expressed by formula and the high-polymer binder material is the nonpolar high polymer. In the formula, R1 is a hydrogen atom, alkoxy group or 1 to 20C straight chain or branched alkyl group; R2 to R5 denote 1 to 20C straight chain or branched alkyl group; R2, to R5 denote 1 to 20C straight chain or branched alkyl group; R6 denote a cyano group or alkoxy carbonyl group. X denotes an oxygen atom or (substd.) nitrogen atom. Information is recorded in the optical memory element 4 by using the recording light controlled in such a manner that the central part of a light beam attains a prescribed temp. or above. |
