A circular sedimentation settlement basin (1) is cleared by a rotating base scraper (12) and surface skimmer (15, 18) moving on a rotating tubular support (10). The novelty is that the support (10) is secured to and is driven by a unit located at the centre of a bridge (9) which crosses the basin (1). A sludge skimmer gully (15) and floating sludge skimmer (18) are secured to the support (10). The tubular support (10) rotating axle incorporates a drain pipe (161) which is linked to fixed non-rotating drain pipe (162). The skimming gully (15) outer diameter (DA) is approximately the same as that (D) of the basin (1), while its inner diameter (DI) is greater than two-thirds of the outer diameter (DA) of the basin ( 1).
