The control has an actuator (10) associated with the locking mechanism (14) for each outer door. The actuator is mounted on the elevator cabin and acts on the corresponding locking mechanism present at each floor. The actuator is fitted with a raised bridge (22) that displaces the switch arm (16) on the lock mechanism as the cabin passes each lock unit on each floor. The lock arm (16) forms a closed circuit as it presses against the surface of the bridge when the cabin is correctly positioned, providing an indication (24) that can be used for monitoring operation of the system.
