The present invention relates to a process characterized in that it consists in the use of a plate 1 intended for configuring the sole or tread of the footwear, which is subjected to the action of a machine 2 in which a film or adhesive film 3 is incorporated, whereby a protective plastic 4 is made to cover the plate 1; this results in a sole or tread for footwear 1 being extracted from the machine 2, covered by a protective plastic 4 connected to the plate for the sole or tread 1 by means of the adhesive 3, the next step being cutting the protective plastic 4 and then the next step being manufacture of the footwear in which said footwear undergoes a handling stage 6 in which the shoe or footwear proper is configured, passing on to a final footwear finishing stage 7 in which the protective plastic film 4 is removed from the surface of the tread it protects.
