PURPOSE: A refrigerator controlling method is provided to improve the cooling efficiency and to maintain the temperature of a refrigeration chamber properly by making the refrigerator cool a freezing chamber and a refrigeration simultaneously and then cool the freezing chamber. CONSTITUTION: The refrigerator controlling method comprises the steps of:cooling a freezing chamber(F) and a refrigeration chamber(R) simultaneously by opening a passage communicated with the refrigeration chamber(R) while operating a compressor if the temperature of the freezing chamber(F) is over the upper limit temperature; stopping a cooling fan and the compressor if the temperature of the freezing chamber(F) is over the upper limit temperature and if the passage communicated with the refrigeration chamber is closed; opening the passage communicated with the refrigeration chamber and operating the cooling fan if the temperature of the refrigeration chamber is over the upper limit temperature; and stopping the cooling fan if the compressor is stopped.
