PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To mount a work register without increasing hardware quantity. SOLUTION: The update holding indication of an operand and the register update buffer address of the operand are stored in an update table 22 by individual operands. The addresses of the register update buffer are made to correspond to the update holding indication and the register update buffer address, which are stored in the update table 22. They are written into a reservation station 33 and the register update buffer is used as a work register in accordance with the update holding indication.
