PURPOSE: An apparatus for selecting a run-amp of a DVC(digital video camera) is to select a corresponding run-amp signal according to whether the signal is identical to a compression code table, and then output the signal in real time. CONSTITUTION: A run-amp signal generating portion(100) converts an input video signal into a run-amp signal, and then outputs the converted run-amp signals((R-1,0),(0,A)), preparing for a case that the signals are not identical to the original run-amp signal(R,A) and a compression code table. A registering portion(110) stores the run-amp signals generated from the run-amp signal generating portion. A deciding portion(120) receives the original run-amp signals generated from the run-amp signal generating portion to decide whether the run-amp signals are identical to compression code table. A recognizing portion(130) generates an amp generating signal showing generation of an amp signal among the run-amp signals. A selecting portion(140) selects one of the run-amp signals output from the registering portion according to an output of the deciding portion and the recognizing portion.
