PURPOSE: An apparatus for opening and closing shutter of a cartridge is provided to enhance a compatibility of a tray and to open/close a shutter by receiving not only a 12-cm cartridge but a 8-cm cartridge on one tray and opening/closing the shutter mounted the cartridges by one lever the position thereof is varied. CONSTITUTION: Shutters are mounted on one surface of a 8-cm cartridge or a 12-cm cartridge being capable of opened/closed for making a data area of received disks be exposed to an object lens of an optical pickup device. A spring is fixed at the front surface of the cartridges for returning the shutters at the initial state. The cartridges are received on a tray. An upper cover(70) is combined at the upper portion of the tray. The first and second long holes(70a, 70b) and a feeding hole(72) are formed at the end circumference portion of the upper cover(70). The first and second guide holes(72a, 72b) are connected at the both end portions of the feeding hole(72). A shutter opening/closing unit and a position varying unit are provided at the upper cover(70). The shutter opening/closing unit comprises a lever(78) having the first and second hinge pins(74, 76) being fed in accordance with the first and second guide holes(72a, 72b), a compression spring(80) being connected to the cover(70) and one end of the lever(78), and an engaging protrusion(82) being protruded at the other end of the lever(78). The position varying unit comprises the first feeding lever(86) having a contacting protrusion(84) and being contacted to one surface of the 12-cm cartridge(60), the second feeding lever(90) being connected to the first feeding lever(86) and the lever(78), and a torsion spring(92) being inserted into the third hinge pin(88).
