PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily manufacture a large display area by constituting an electron emission part from a carbon film at least partially consisting of diamond. SOLUTION: Ribs 104, for example, 5-100μm height are arranged at prescribed intervals on a substrate 101. A cathode wiring layer 102 is formed in a stripe on the area nipped by the ribs 104, and an electron emission part 105 consisting of diamond-like carbon is formed thereon. An electron lead-out electrode 106 to be formed on the ribs 104 is divided into strips orthogonal to the cathode wiring layer 102, and each stripe is constituted in a mesh shape. The mesh diameter is set to, for example, 20-100μm. The area where the electron lead-out electrode 106 crosses the cathode wiring layer 102 constitutes one display dot. An emission part 110 consisting of a phosphor is formed on the inside of a front glass substrate 107, and a metal back film 111 formed of an aluminum film is formed on the surface thereof.
