PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gaseous hydrogen and oxygen generator which is capable of increasing the contact area of electrodes and electrolyte and enhancing gas generation efficiency. SOLUTION: This generator has a storage tank 3 in which the electrolyte W is packed, an electrolytic cell 2 which is connected to 3 via conduits 16 and 17 and to which the electrolyte in 3 is supplied and gas introducing pipes 20, 21 and 22 which admit the gaseous hydrogen and oxygen generated in 2 and electrolyte into 3. The captioned number 2 has electrode plate groups 6 and 7 which are formed by laminating multiple sheets thereof respectively via spacers in-between in a thickness direction and are formed with first flow ports in which W flows and second flow ports in which the gaseous hydrogen, oxygen and W flow respectively in the lamination direction, a left plate 8 and right plate 9 which are fixed on both sides of 6 and 7 and an intermediate plate 10 which is disposed between 8 and 9. One end of 17 and one-side ends of 20 and 22 are fixed to 8 and 9, and one end of 21 is fixed to 10. The gaseous hydrogen and oxygen generated in 2 are made to flow out of the inside of 2 via 20, 21 and 22.
