PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ditching device capable of continuously excavating a ditch having a width corresponding to the outer diameter of a screw auger and a substantially constant depth or a required inclination even in a narrow place as narrow (30 cm for instance) as the width of the screw auger. SOLUTION: The ditching device is provided with a traveling truck 11 which can travel on the ground, a support body 12 provided at the rear side in the traveling direction of the truck, a semicylindrical screw casing 13 connected to the support body to be vertically movable at the rear side of the traveling truck and opened at the front face, a screw blade 152 on the screw shaft 151, and further provided with a screw auger 15 substantially vertically held in a state that the roughly front half is exposed from the substantially semicylindrical space of the screw casing, a screw shaft drive device 16 rotationally driving the screw shaft, and a casing lift 18 controlling the vertical position of the screw casing.
