PURPOSE:To easily discriminate whether or not the function of a detecting means is normal and to monitor the machining state of an accurate material to be machined by providing a reference light emitting means and a detecting function discriminating part. CONSTITUTION:A detecting means 10 which can detect the light emitted from a machining part of the material 5 to be machined is provided. A controller 4 discriminates completion of piercing and defect of cutting, etc., based on the quantity of detecting light inputted from the detecting means 10. A laser beam machine is provided with a reference light emitting means 13 and a detecting function discriminating part 4E in the controller 4. The reference light J is emitted from the reference emitting means 13 and this reference light J is detected by the detecting means 10. The detecting function discriminating part 4E compares the quantity of detected light by the detecting means 10 with the quantity of the previously stored detecting function discriminating light, and when the quantity of light detected by the detecting means 10 is smaller than the quantity of the detecting function discriminating light, it is discriminated that the function of the detecting means 10 is defective. |
