PURPOSE: To provide a donor material containing a specific yellow-based dye as a base, having a low retransfer degree, forming in high intensity especially on a transparent support and having a high absorption coefficient, useful for heat transfer. CONSTITUTION: A yellow-based dye which comprises a polymer binder (e.g. copolyacrylonitrile/styrene) and an azo dye of the formula (R<1> to R<4> are each H, an alkyl, a cycloalkyl or the like; R<1> and R<2> and/or R<3> and R<4> are each bonded to form a 5- or 6-membered heterocyclic ring system; X and Y are the same or different substituents; n and n' are each 0, 1, 2, 3 or 4) such as a bis[N,N-dialkyl(ene) or N,N-diaryl or N- an N-alkyl(ene)-N-arylaniline] as a base is formulated with a cyan or magenta-based dye to give a solution, which is applied to a synthetic resin film to give a dye donor material. The dye donor material is combined with a transparent support and thermally transferred to a support sheet to give a transfer sheet having a low retransfer degree, excellent light stability and high intensity. |
