Comparing an integral average value with a newly input value, this method enables to check a lebel variation and a duty of reel pulse. After initial clearing, the method converts an average value to a changed lebel initial value [-V(n) , increases the counter number by one, and calculates an analog/digital sample value [-V(n) . Subtracting this value from an average value -V(n-1), when an absolute value of upper value is less than a reference lebel difference, and a limit time is less than pulse width, then the process automatically stops. When a chattering check limit value is less than the counter value for checking, then a flag X is set and the remainder of tape is determined.
