A method and an apparatus for driving a sustain electrode of a plasma display panel having an integrated DC/DC converter are provided to stabilize the operation of a plasma display panel and reduce manufacturing cost by simplifying the circuit configuration of a sustain electrode driving device. An apparatus for driving a sustain electrode of a plasma display panel having an integrated DC/DC converter includes a pulse generator(132), a DC/DC transformer(Tr), and a sustain driver(134). The pulse generator generates alternating positive and negative pulses. The transformer receives an output from the pulse generator through a primary coil and induces an output according to a predetermined winding ratio to a secondary coil. The sustain driver is coupled with the sustain electrode and supplies/receives charging/discharging currents for increasing/decreasing a sustain electrode potential during first/third periods, respectively. The sustain driver rectifies the induced voltage from the secondary coil and supplies a positive/negative voltage to the sustain electrode during second/fourth periods, respectively.
