A reproduction power adjustment method in an optical recording apparatus is provided to accurately reproduce a CAPA(Complementary Allocated Pit Area) recorded in a PID(Physical ID) by switching a state of an ALPC(Automatic Laser Power Control) circuit into an open loop state when reproducing the CAPA of media like a DVD-RAM(Digital Video Disc-RAM) and adjusting reproduction power to output a certain reproduction power level. When a CAPA of a rewritable optical disc is reproduced, an optical recording apparatus switches an ALPC circuit into an open loop. The optical recording apparatus adjusts reproduction power to output a certain reproduction power level in a state which the ALPC circuit is switched into the open loop.
