<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To rapidly select a desired image as a printing target from image data which are stored in a recording medium such as a memory card. <P>SOLUTION: A printing history storage means 33 of the printer 1 writes information on the identification of the final printing time of the printing of the image in the recording medium 2, when the image of the image data 41 stored in the data-writable recording medium 2 is printed. When the image of the image data 41 stored in the recording medium 2 is printed, a printing candidate selecting means 31 reads the information on the identification of the final printing time from the recording medium 2, and selects the image data 41, which are stored in the recording medium 2 at the final printing time, identified on the basis of the read information, or later, as a printing candidate.
