PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a screen preparing device capable of automatically changing the size of a display element in a screen which is already prepared to a size suited for a programmable display element having a different resolution. SOLUTION: A screen editor part 13 that prepares the screen in a personal computer 1 is provided with a type designating part 131a and a type changing part 131b. When a type of a programmable display element 2 to be changed is designated with respect to the type of the programmable display element 2 which is designated at the present time, the type designating part 131a compares resolutions of both types of displays 22 and, when both of the types are different from each other, urges whether to change the size and position of the display element (object such as component) of the screen or not to a user. When changes of the size and position of the display element are indicated by the user, the type changing part 131b rewrites information to the designated type and, at the same time, calculates the size and position of the display element based on the ratio of the resolutions of both types of displays 22.
