PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projector including a fluctuation prevention means. SOLUTION: The projector 1 includes a projector casing incorporating: a light source device; a light source side optical system comprising a color wheel, a light guide device, a light source side lens group, and so forth; a display element; a projection side optical system; a cooling fan; and a projector control means, wherein the casing has a substantially rectangular parallelepiped shape having a front plate 3 on which a plurality of exhaust holes 7 and a projection opening 99 are formed. The projector 1 further includes a fluctuation prevention means closing the prescribed exhaust holes 7 positioned near the projection opening 99 upon projection and opening the exhaust holes 7 upon non-projection. The fluctuation prevention means is a slidable lens cover 51 disposed near the projection opening 99. The lens cover 51 closes part of the prescribed exhaust holes 7 positioned near the projection opening 99 when it is opened and positioned in front of the lens when it is closed so that the exhaust holes 7 are opened.
