The organic electroluminescent display device and the manufacturing method are provided to enhance the adhesive force between the sealing member and the sealing board by forming the buffer pattern on the organic electroluminescent display device and sealing board. The organic electroluminescent display device comprises the first substrate(11), the buffer pattern(13), and the second substrate(17) and sealing member(19). The display space (DA) and non-display area (NA) are defined in the first substrate. The buffer pattern is arranged on the first substrate corresponding to the non-display area. The second substrate is faced with the first substrate. The second substrate has the organic electro luminescence device. The first substrate and the second substrate are attached to each other with the sealing member. The sealing member is arranged in the space between the second substrate corresponding to the non-display area and the first substrate.
