PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for driving a sewing frame of a sewing machine by which high speed operation is made possible by transmitting uniform transporting driving force to the whole sewing frame and solving phenomenon in which the quality of embroideries is lowered due to swinging of the sewing frame in transporting operation. SOLUTION: The apparatus for driving a sewing frame of the sewing machine includes at least one right-to-left movement mechanism 130X to move the sewing frame to support an object to be sewn in right-to-left direction, and at least one front-to-rear movement mechanisms 130Y to move the sewing frame 120 in front-to-rear direction. Any one of the right-to-left movement mechanisms 130X and the front-to-rear movement mechanisms 130Y includes a fixed frame 210 installed to a body of the sewing machine 100, a movable frame 220 movably installed on the fixed frame 210 and formed with gear teeth, and movable frame driving means 150 engaged with the gear teeth formed in the movable frame 210 and reciprocating the movable frame 220.
