PURPOSE:To provide an electric automobile, which can select the driving method for emphasizing the high-efficiency driving and the driving method for emphasizing the driving performance in response to the driver's will in the electric automobile, wherein a motor is driven with a power converting means. CONSTITUTION:A current is divided into a field current and a torque current. An induction motor 3 undergoes vector control with a control apparatus 6. The magnitude of the field current is selected in response to a mode signal SM outputted from a mode-switching device 13. For the field current, operation is performed with respect to the motor speed in a power mode, and the operation is performed with respect to a torque command in an economy mode. An inverter 5 is driven with either of the field currents. Thus, an electric automobile is driven. In this way, the maximum torque is secured and the efficiency can be improved by selecting the power mode and the economy mode by the driver. These effects are achieved. |
