Provided are a display device and a method for manufacturing the display device in which an optical sheet can be accurately positioned. A short-side spacer 30a has a space retaining layer 31a fixed to a light guide plate 21 and a fixing layer 32a fixed to a liquid crystal panel 10 side so that the layers are aligned in the direction in which the liquid crystal panel 10 and the light guide plate 21 face each other. Similarly, a long-side spacer 30b has a space retaining layer 31b and a fixing layer 32b. The thicknesses of the space retaining layers 31a, 31b are identical, and the thicknesses of the fixing layers 32a, 32b are identical. The thickness of each space retaining layer 31a, 31b is greater than the total thickness of optical sheets 23a, 23b, 23c, 23d so as to secure a space in which the optical sheets 23a, 23b, 23c, 23d are interposed. |
