PURPOSE:To provide a safe skin/hair cosmetic highly effective for preventing spots, freckles, skin chapping, or sunburn, formulated with an antioxidative active substance extracted from the green leaves of green plants such as barley or wheat. CONSTITUTION:A green plant (in particular, among barley- and wheat-based plants, the fresh stems and/or leaves of a young plant harvested before its date of maturity are esp. suitable) is first squeezed using e.g. a mixer or juicer and, if needed, filtered to remove coarse solid component, preparing a liquor (green liquor). The liquor is then dried into powder which is, in turn, extracted with a sufficient amount of water or n-hexane to obtain an antioxidative active substance, i.e. 2'-o-glycosylisovitexin of the formula. The objective skin/hair cosmetic can be obtained by formulating this substance. This compound of the formula is soluble in both water and alcohols, also excellent in bioabsorbability, and can easily be formulated in skin/hair cosmetics. |
