PURPOSE:To obtain a propylene copolymer having well-balanced transparency and rigidity by copolymerizing propylene and ethylene in the presence of a specific polymerization catalyst. CONSTITUTION:The propylene copolymer is produced by copolymerizing propylene and ethylene in the presence of a polymerization catalyst component produced by contacting (A) an activated titanium trichloride obtained by reducing titanium tetrachloride with an organic aluminum compound and activating the obtained beta-type titanium trichloride with (B) an organic silicon compound of formula (R<1> is 1-10C alkylene or arylene; R<2> is 1-10C aliphatic, alicyclic or aromatic hydrocarbon group, etc.; R<3> is 3-10C aliphatic, alicyclic or aromatic hydrocarbon group; x is 1 or 2; y is 0 or 1; z is 4-x-y) [e.g. V-C2H4-Si(O-i-Pr)3 (V is CH2=CH; Pr is propyl), etc.] in the presence of (C) an organic aluminum compound (preferably diethylaluminum chloride) in an inert solvent preferably at -30 to +50 deg.C. |
