On top of a smooth or smoothed face of a wall 1, a planar, base (substrate, couch) 2 is applied of a quartz paint having a first brightness and colour. After drying of this layer, a top layer 3 is applied of quartz paint having a different brightness and/or colour than the base 2. This top layer is applied in the form of splashes and droplets by means of a suitable paint sprayer, the base 2 remaining visible between the droplets and splashes. After drying to reach a viscous state, this top layer is skimmed using a suitable skimming device, the top of said top layer thus being planarized. The structured (patterned) coating thus obtained provides a certain warmth and vivacity. <IMAGE>
