1,017,839. Moulding footwear. DELPHI ESTABLISHMENTS. Feb. 19, 1964 [April 30, 1963], No. 6888/64. Heading B5A. [Also in Division A4] In the manufacture of footwear by compression moulding vulcanized rubber or by injection moulding plastics material in which at least one strip or tongue is connected to the upper at one of its ends with or without a lateral edge connection, the or each strip or tongue is temporarily fixed to an auxiliary tongue of a material which does not bond to the upper, whereby undesired adhesion of the or each strip or tongue to the upper is prevented. In the moulding of a pit boot the preformed tongue 18, which may be attached to a lining for the upper, is tied by thread to an auxiliary tongue 13, which is then connected either by a pivot-pin 14, or by a magnetic bearing 16, to a last 10 around which is disposed the vulcanizable rubber to be compressed by mould parts 11 (not shown), 11 2 and 12. Cutting edges within the mould sever the threads tying together the members 13, 18 when the mould is closed. The manufacture is also described of a ski boot having spaced inner and outer uppers, two front tongues, and one rear tongue. |
