摘要 1,071,546. Selective printing; stencil cutting. WEBER MARKING SYSTEMS Inc. Sept. 23, 1965 [Sept. 29, 1964], No. 40695/65. Heading B6F. Type-wheel machines; machines for stencil cutting ; index setting arrangements; card holders.- A stencil cutting machine comprises a main frame to which is articulated by a shaft 17 an auxiliary frame 18 carrying a type wheel disc 19 having circumferentially disposed thereon a number of stencil cutting characters 20 which are induced by a knob 21 into the stencil cutting position under a block 18e. The characters 20 overlie a stencil 45 mounted on a table 14 and attached thereto by clamp members 15a, 15b the former being pivotally mounted on a pin 15d and biased into an engaging position by a spring 15e. Stencil is released by pivoting of a hand 15c and the table 14 is movable in letter and line spacing direction by ratchet mechanisms 46 and 48, Fig. 6 (not shown), respectively. Roller impression arrangements; alignment for impression; adjustable impression arrangements.-Impression or cutting of stencil is effected by manual operation of a handle associated with a shift 29 on which is fixedly mounted an arm 30 which is pivoted anticlockwise to displace a lever 31, on which is mounted an impression roller 33, so as to force the roller 33 up an inclined surface 35c of an impression block, the impression being effected as a rolling contact along the horizontal surface adjacent the inclined surface 35c. To compensate for variable thickness of stencils the impression block 35 is provided with a wedge-shaped base 35e in contact with a block 41 which is displaced relatively to the base by a screw 42 to raise or lower the impression block with respect to the block 18e. Backing shields.-A strip 175 extending along a slit 14a in the table 14 is attached at one end by means of pins 176 and passed over the surface of roller 33 to effect a line contact between stencil and roller 33 during cutting of the stencil to prevent damage to the stencil and ensure removal of the wax only. The other end of the strip 175 is provided with a slot 178 permitting sliding movement of the strip about pin 177. Ribbon arrangements.-A wax absorbing ribbon 49 is fed by a mechanism 50 and fed from and taken up on associated rollers.
