A container, for storing two ingredients separately and for mixing them prior to dispensing, comprises a plastics cylinder 12 divided by a frangible partition into compartments 22, 24. The partition is formed by aluminium foil 20 supported by a dasher 18, and is retained in position by adhesive tape 62 which constricts the cylinder to clamp the partition. The cylinder has a dispensing port 42 at one end and a piston 15 closing its other end. An operating rod 36 extends slidably through the piston 15 and is held retracted for storage and transport by a cardboard tube 34. Removal of the tube permits advance of the rod 36 to rupture the partition foil 20, further advance and rotation of the rod screwing it into the dasher 18. The tape 62 is then removed to release the partition, and the rod is retracted to displace the foil 20 against the piston 15. The dasher is then reciprocated to mix the ingredients. To dispense the contents the rod 36 is retracted to expose an annular groove 66 and then a locking sleeve 68 is pushed down the rod to engage inturned portions 70 of locking fingers 72 in the groove. The piston 15 is thus held on the rod between the dasher and the locking sleeve, so that the piston may be advanced to expel the contents. The dispensing port is fitted with a nozzle 16 having radial ports 40 which are closed in the extended position of the nozzle. The nozzle is retained in its extended position by a locking clip 45 which is removed to permit retraction of the nozzle to open the ports 40 for dispensing the contents. |
