PURPOSE:To accelerate temperature rise of a catalyst and/or facilitate attachment/detechment and regeneration of an adsorbent in purification method for engine exhaust gas which utilizes the adsorbent and the catalyst. CONSTITUTION:A vessel housing a catalyst 2 and an adsorbent 1 in a laminating form is arranged on a purification passage for exhaust gas of an engine. Purification performance of the exhaust gas is improved and stabilized at the time of engine starting.
