Flat-shaped articles are produced from fibrous materials, such as natural or synthetic raw materials together with a polymer based binding agent. Suitable natural fibrous materials include cellulose, cotton, wool or leather fibres. Waste materials such as paper, leather and the like may also be used. A latex binder fine precipitating agent is used on the fibres in the form of a micro-coagulate. The operation is performed in water at a higher concentration of the fibrous mixture of materials and the components than the concentration on dewatering.
