Producing cast iron with spheroidal graphite. Involves forming a hollow jet of molten iron at the outlet of a casting ladle and introducing into the hollow jet a granular magnesium master alloy of the following composition: 10-20% Mg, 8-18% Ca, and 30-46.2% Si. The remainder is iron. The material is introduced in such a manner that the jet completely surrounds the granular stream, which is contacted downstream at the outlet.
