One electrode having pores of at least 10 Á has a reactant gas and a diluent gas supplied and caused to bubble out, and over the surface, of the electrode into a liquid electrolyte which latter is circulated to remove the diluent gas. As disclosed the electrode is a gas-depolarized cathode working against a consumable anode and is rechargeable (see Specification 1,028,548) but can also be applied to primary cells or used in a fuel cell. The electrode may be of sintered nickel or of porous carbon. |
